VC ARRIVES AT UK FOR THE UK, KENYA – HIGHER EDUCATION ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

The Maasai Mara University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mary Walingo has already arrived in UK set for tomorrows (Friday 8 March 2019) UK, Kenya – Higher Education Roundtable Discussion. The discussion will take place at Jumeirah Carlton Tower, 1 Cadogan Place, Belgravia, London as from, 1200 – 1400hrs. 

Tangible issues to be deliberated revolve on Research and Innovation, Student Mobility, Transnational Education Partnerships. 

The Kenyan team is led by the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Sports Culture and Heritage and immediate former Cabinet Secretary for Education -Amb. (Dr.) Amina C. Mohamed EGH, CAV as well as the Chief Administrative Secretary and Principal Secretary, Ministry of Education, Kenya- Prof. Collette A. Suda, PhD, FKNAS, CBS,.

Maasai Mara University Office of Career Services and Students’ Advisement is the latest addition to other service departments in the University. The services of the Office are stated, inter alia, as academic advising, career services, counselling services, graduate tracker services, linkage between industries and students, high school recruitment, intra-institutional exchanges, apprenticeship services, creating sustainable alumni network, facilitating entrepreneur incubator, mentoring students’ ambassadors, organizing recruitment career fairs and promoting students’ participation in capital fairs. As a sub-system of Maasai Mara University system, the Office will be guided by is the University’s vision, which is: To be a world-class university committed to academic excellence.

Specifically, the Office of Career Services commits to:

  • Assist students in Career Placement activities.
  • Respond to student questions pertaining to career development exploration and placement procedures.
  • Conduct career advisement sessions for current students, recent graduates and alumni.
  • Maintain regular contact with employers for new jobs opportunities.
  • Sort and submit qualified students,
  • Empower students with CV writing, interview skills and job search strategies.
  • Connect students and alumni to employers by facilitating students to participate in local career fairs, industry conferences and other networking events.
  • Consult with academic deans to ensure that programs and services address student needs.
  • Develop outreach programs to promote career advisement services among students.
  • Establish an updated network of graduates from the University
  • Promote intra-institutional exchanges for students and staff.
  • Provide psychosocial counseling services to students.

The campus was started towards the end of 2014 and is situated at the heart of Narok Town along the Narok – Nairobi highway at the Oltalet shopping mall. In pursuance of the university vision and mission of being a world class university we offer high-quality education through research, innovation and consultancy services. We offer market driven programmes which ensure that our graduates meet the market demands and stand out in the crowded academic arena.

The campus offers post- graduate, graduate, diploma and certificate programmes in business management, education, social works, community development, tourism and wildlife management and environmental science. The courses are offered in the regular, evening and weekend modules to meet the ever growing demands for education for business people, employees in the various fields and school leavers.

Our programmes have adopted the alternative module where the courses are fast-tracked using the tri-semester system hence providing an advantage of completing the courses within the shortest time possible.
