VC HARNESSES EXCELLENT LEADERSHIP SKILLS
Maasai Mara University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mary K. Walingo has registered positive experience on the second day of a five-day GLIG University Leaders’ Training in the United States of America. According to her, the training of Vice-Chancellors drawn from various universities began yesterday at Pappajohn Business Building with a welcoming introduction from Amy Kristof-Brown, an Associate Dean, University of Lowa Tippie College of Business.
The Monday discussions focused on entrepreneurship and innovation, with a focus on how to plan, manage and implement growth in Institutions of Higher Learning. Professor Walingo has also noted that today’s sessions were instrumental as it emphasized on leveraging dynamics in the market to raise and sustain high leadership performance. Besides, bringing real-world experience to classrooms was featured as a key ingredient in ensuring institutions stay afloat in the competitive market.
Likewise, tools and technology relevant for enhancing electronic/distance learning were unravelled. The role of universities in steering youths empowerment proliferated the sessions. It was clear that universities need to inculcate the ‘entrepreneurial mindset’ to youths through promoting creativity, innovation, critical thinking, as well as problem-solving hence prepare students for success in the world of business and entrepreneurship.
