German Engineers at Integrated Renewable Energy Technology Research Centre

10feb175The German Engineers without Borders at Maasai Mara University to do a presentation on the proposed project Collaboration: Integrated Renewable Energy Technology Research Centre: An Educational and Knowledge Transfer Green Climate Hub at Maasai Mara University, Kenya.

They met with the Vice Chancellor and were hosted by the Center for Innovation New and Renewable Energy and Project Team of experts led by the Centre Director, Dr. Aloys Mosima Osano, the Lead proposed Project Leader from Maasai Mara University.

The Engineers were representing the German collaborative partners in this project: Otto Von Guericke University, Martin Luther University, Germany Biomass Research Center and Germany Biogas Association. 

Maasai Mara University confers honorary degree to Prof Ogot at his rural home

Prof Bethwel Allan OgotMaasai Mara University Vice Chancellor, Prof Walingo said the decision to take the certificate to Ogot at his doorstep was arrived at by the council to honour the professor for fighting hard to set up the former constituent college of Moi university.

The ceremony was witnessed by former University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor, Prof George Magoha, who described Ogot as an unparalleled academician. Also in attendance was Maseno University Vice Chancellor Julius Nyabundi. Egerton and Moi University Vice Chancellors sent representatives.

More than 20 university professors — all dressed in flowing academic gowns, descended on Prof Ogot’s home, to witness Maasai Mara University in Narok County award him a honorary degree. Read More about the story(Source Standard)

Visiting Professors from South Africa


Professor Makwena Justice - Vaal University of Technology and Professor Nasipho Moloto - University of Witwatersrand are visisting Maasai Mara University this week. They will stay in MMU till 10th Feb 2017. The purpose of the visit is to explore the possibilities of scienticfic collaboration among the institutions, possibilities of staff and students exchange, joint research programmes and many more. Under the guidance of professor Oyaro(Dean of SS&IT):- Dr. Wesley Omwoyo and his team members are assisting and working on the process. There will be a special session for the students on wednessday morning (8th Feb 2017) starting 8'Oclock at the university's main hall.

Former President Mwai Kibaki on arrival at Maasai Mara UniversityPresident Mwai KibakiRetired President Mwai Kibaki was on Friday (2nd Decemeber 2016) feted with an Honorary degree in Environmental Studies by the Maasai Mara University.

During the University's graduation where 1,346 graduates were conferred with various degrees and diplomas, the former Head of State called for concerted efforts in preserving the Mara ecosystem. Read more

Centre for Innovation, New and Renewable Energy

A Search for Green Energy, Technology and Innovation Platforms: To set up a hub for excellence in research into; materials, Renewable energy, technology and innovations at the university in view of producing tangible products, alternative green Energies, guide, manage and improve on the use of the existing energy; train, Research in Frontier areas of Science and Technology, and producing consumable innovative energy products and ideas ready for implementation in view of reducing emissions and costs.

Fellowship Award

Dr. Aloys Mosima Osano has been awarded a fellowship for taking part in the 69th UNEP/UNESCO/BMUB International Short Course on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (5 October – 2 November 2016), at Technische Universität Dresden, Federal Republic of Germany.

The fellowship covers all expenses for the full course. The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety of Germany awards up to 21 course fellows admitted by the International Steering Course Committee with a fellowship. For each course, 21 promising leaders are selected from across the world and supported by a fellowship.

Computers for New Computer Labs

compThe Vice - Chancellor of Maasai Mara University receives 400 (four hundred) Computers delivered to the University today. The computers will be used to setup four more computer laboratories for the Students and to fully automate University processes.
