He has been awarded a research grant (USD 12000) under “Assessment of impacts of climate change vulnerability of biophysical and socioeconomic systems with particular emphasis on gender responsiveness and critical ecosystems in Africa” by the International Council for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) in 2015 a project which ended in 2018; Has been awarded a research grant on tracking trends in the water quality of large water pans in Narok County, Kenya; and a USD 3600 Field Work grant and donations of water sampling equipment in collaboration with University of British Columbia among others; Dr. Mabwoga has also been involved in a GroundTruth project – Home – Ground Truth 2.0 (gt20.eu) (funded by EU_H2020 (led by  Uta When of IHE DELFT, which closed in Dec 2019) of the European Union Citizen Science activities for Climate Change, Livelihoods and Biodiversity Management in the Mara Basin, Narok, Kenya (Balancing sustainable livelihoods and biodiversity management – Ground Truth 2.0 (gt20.eu)) where 6 Citizen Observatories were set up and validated in Africa and EU. Currently, Dr. Mabwoga is (and Prof. Romulus Abila – Maasai Mara University) working on a project (worth USD 35000) on Plankton species diversity and population dynamics in a highly fluctuating arid and semi-arid tropical freshwater landscape, with a Research Grant from The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS).
