Before joining Maasai Mara University (MMU), school of Tourism and Natural Resource Management as a lecturer, I was at the University of Connecticut USA as a Research Assistant, pursuing both my Master and PhD in Natural Resource Management and Environment. My projects focused on various aspects of climate geared towards understanding and quantifying Biosphere and Atmosphere in the context of variability and climate change. The various projects that I worked on comprised of high resolution climate modeling, climate variability and change, and the link between land use/cover change and climate variability. Through these projects, I have developed strong interest in understanding causes of climate variability and change, especially on the role of land surface interaction with the atmosphere. In addition, the need to provide climate related information for localized intervention on health and agricultural related sectors inspires me to investigateon the best ways to mitigate the impact of climate extremes such as drought and floods on those sectors.Previously, I worked at the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), climate prediction and application center (ICPAC) in Nairobi-Kenya as a research fellow.
My Research Interest can therefore be summarized to be focused on;
· Regional Climate Modeling and Downscaling
· Variability and change in the extremes of climate events
· Land use/cover changes, their impacts and linkages to regional hydro-climatic changes
· Uncertainty in regional climate projections
· Localized climate information systems for health and agriculture.
