First of all, I would like to congratulate all the 2017 graduands. This is the time when all those sleepless nights and random breakdowns become all worth it.

I am proud of being a MMARAU alumnus. Last year, I was sitting where you are now. I was eager to conquer the very competitive world. I was very tired of reading and discussing. Even before graduation, I first got employed as Sales executive with M-ELIMU limited company, I resigned after 6 Months to follow my passion.

As a young woman and leader, I was passionate of engaging and developing strengths of young women with leadership ambitions in remote Tharaka-Nithi County, to increase impact of their participation in coMMARAUnity leadership opportunities. I founded CoMMARAUnity Development and leadership Initiatives (CoDeLI).

I would like to encourage you to always choose and follow your passion. Do want you love and it will reward you in ways you will not imagine. Do more than maintaining a dream job. Grow, create and lead others to their dream jobs.

I began my leadership journey in Maasai Mara University as a student leader, I sincerely thank my wonderful mentors. In the just concluded general elections, I actively participated in Political party politics where I was listed as a nominee for Devolution Party of Kenya in the 12th National Assembly. Even if your efforts seem small, recognize that small steps will sum up to great accomplishments.

Indeed the journey has not been a walk in the park. Never give up as you will fail many times. When you fail, learn and keep moving forward.
