Maasai Mara University keeps soaring high in creating collaborations and partnerships geared towards promoting quality teaching, research and innovation. The latest move is where it is almost finalizing a partnership with Ilkerin Loita Integral Development Project.
The university team that represented the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mary K. Walingo was led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Bulitia Godrick Mathews. Prof. Walingo has been instrumental in championing and enhancing the success of collaborations and partnerships that support the varsity’s quest for the prosperous knowledge-based economy. The MMU group had deep discussions with stakeholders from the project.
The Ilkerin Loita Integral Development Project leaders said that have been longing for the partnership to materialize expressing high hopes that current interventions are likely to bore fruits.
The two parties are being drawn together due to their common interests such as:
- Joint fundraising and resource mobilization
- Project development and implementation
- Sharing of physical facilities
- Institutional capacity building
- Management of staff training
- Joint research and innovations
The institution yearns to work with the Loita Community members running the programme so as to establish the research, training as well as job creation hubs. Signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is underway.
The MMU team was also composed of the University Senior Legal Officer Miss Mercyline Njoroge, the Dean of Students Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Adan, the Director Career Services and Students’ Advisement Dr. Augustine Kara, The Dean School of Tourism and Natural Resources Management Prof. Aggrey Thuo, the Chair of Department-Department of Environmental Studies, Geography and Agriculture Dr. Kamundia Waweru, Tutorial Fellow; Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management Mr. Shani Petenya.
