Vision: To be an excellent programme of nursing of choice in the provision of quality nursing education for sustainable development.

Mission: To provide quality-nursing education for the delivery of quality nursing care through the application of evidence-based practices, innovative strategies, and appropriate technology.

Rationale of the Programme: The programme has been developed in response to changing needs, locally, region and global, based on the situation analysis. The programme is designed to equip graduates with knowledge, skills and attitude in the discharge of professional duties in nursing practice, education, leadership, and research.  It will further enable the graduates to develop and integrate critical thinking and evidence-based practices into the practice of nursing.

Goals of the Programme: To produce an effective, self-directed nurse serving as a role model for excellence in nursing practice, education, management, innovation, and research, with an understanding and commitment to community service.

Admission requirements: 

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or it is Equivalent with minimum Aggregate of C+ (plus)

In addition, applicants should have the following clusters;

Cluster A: C+ (plus) in each of the required subjects  

Mathematics/Physics, English/Kiswahili, Chemistry, Biology

Cluster B: C+(plus) in each of the required subjects

English/Kiswahili, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Biological Sciences        


  I Principal passes in Biology and Chemistry and a subsidiary pass either in physics or Mathematics

 II. Kenya Registered Nurse Diploma or equivalent and a mean grade of C or Division II in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.  Should have worked for a minimum of 2 years following registration.

Candidates holding Ordinary Diplomas in Nursing or approved qualifications in designated

Biomedical Sciences may have a credit transfer of up to 18 units.
All clinical units, community health attachments, and clinical rotations are not eligible for Credit transfer

The Bachelor of Science degree programme in Nursing shall be completed when a registered student has taken and passed in all 94 units including 6 university common units

Duration of study
The BSc nursing program is offered in two modes.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (regular) program is offered in 12 semesters (4 calendar years) for direct entry.
The Bachelor of Science in the nursing school-based program is offered in 8 sessions (2 1/2 calendar years) for upgrading students.

The School has three academic departments: Dept. of Environmental Studies, Geography & Agriculture; Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management and the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

 The School is currently running three (3) PhD  Programmes (Environmental Studies, Environmental Planning and Management, and   Land Resource Management),  Seven (7)  Masters Programmes (Environmental Studies,  Environmental Planning  and Management,  Land Resource Management,  Wildlife Resource Management,  Tourism Management, Geography,  Forestry Management) and Eleven (11) Bachelors Programmes (Urban and Regional Planning;  Environmental Management;  Animal Health and Production; Earth Sciences; Geography;  Environmental  Studies (Biology and Health);  Parks, Recreation and Leisure,  Wildlife Management;  Forestry Ecosystem Management;  Tourism Management; and   Hospitality and Hotel Management) The school also offer Three (3) Diploma Programmes (Tourism and Wildlife Management;  Animal Health and Production; and  Hotels and Restaurant Management).

The study programmes focus on preparing students for careers with environmental management agencies, Urban planning authorities, hospitality industries, tourism operations and organisations, Forestry and agriculture, livestock sectors. The school also, as one of our primary commitments and focus through Mara Resource and Outreach Centre, run community Outreach programmes and activities.

The School has played a key role in ensure that Maasai Mara University is a recognized Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) in Environmental Education.

There are a number of organisations that the School, through the University, is collaborating with, including Clemson University, Northern Arizona University of Forestry, University of Maryland in Wildlife and Environmental Education, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Aarhus University, among other. These collaborations provide opportunities for staff exchanges and for our students to travel abroad for Graduate Studies. 

The School of Business and Economics hosts the Departments of Business management and Economics. Over the years, it has grown to be the send largest Academic School in the Maasai Mara University in terms of students population. In fact, during the year 2017, it registered the highest number of first years. The School's management and faculty has managed to go this far due to the popularity of varieties of courses, competence of lecturers and support from university management.

In response to market demand, the school has revamped and improved on its traditional courses. The is proud to have added into its for programs in the area of Financial Economics, Economic Policy Analysis, Agribusiness, Entrepreneurship and Project Management. The school is dedicated to not to tire in its mission of exploring more exiting frontier programmers in Business and Economics.

Founded in 2011, the School of Arts & Social Sciences has expended to offer 13 undergraduate and 10 postgraduate programmers. Besides, it offers a number of Diploma and Certificate Programmes, which are a foundation for future studies. The school currently has a student population of about 1700 students and 50 full-time academic staff. 

The three departments play a crucial role in the University. the department of Social studies houses the biggest number of programmers in the school, it also services humanity related courses the school of Education.
