Soccer Team Sail Through to East Africa Games
The University soccer team popularly known as Masimbas qualified for East African Games after emerging victors at the Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) Nationals held at Kenyatta University.
In a weekend of gruelling duel and passion, the Masimbas’ resiliency and unmatched sportsmanship conquered Kenya. The team sailed to the finals after their opponents in both the quarter and semi-finals were disqualified due to ineligibility issues.
In the Final, Masimbas battled to a barren drew with the hosts Kenyatta University. The winner was to be determined through spot kicks, however, fans interference during the process of taking the penalties and the Masimba were declared winners.
Head of sports Mr. Kabue Mwaniki mentioned that the success was a result of dedication and team work. He urged continues and holistic support as the team prepares for future challenges.
The team captain, Ochieng said they are eager to face it out with other institutions and promised that the “Masimba” will roar once again. “ We are on the road to greatness, our athletes are talented, “ said the captain.
The results proved that Maasai Mara University is a powerhouse in sports.
