Amplifying Leadership for an Inclusive Future

Maasai Mara University proudly hosted a groundbreaking panel discussion in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) on December 3, 2024. Organized by the Kenya Model United Nations (KMUN) Maasai Mara Chapter, and hosted by Muyanga Vincent Muthama, a 2nd Year student taking BA. Communications and Journalism the event brought together distinguished guests, including the University’s Dean of Students, the County Disability Director, directors from the Directorate of Gender and Equity, and two remarkable individuals living with disabilities—a visually impaired community advocate and a leader with severe scoliosis.

This dynamic forum centered on the theme “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” fostering engaging conversations on empowerment, accessibility, and the collective role of society in championing inclusivity.

The panel highlighted milestones achieved by institutions in promoting disability inclusion, explored existing challenges, and laid out actionable steps to build a more inclusive environment. Speakers shared powerful stories of resilience and innovation, inspiring the audience to rethink conventional approaches to leadership and participation for persons with disabilities.

The KMUN Chapter continues to be a driving force in creating impactful programs that align with global initiatives such as the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
