University Participates in The Nyanza International Investment Conference 2025

The Conference themed “ Nyanza Rising : Towards economic transformation for Scoci0Econmic Growth and Development” is aimed at unpacking the region’s development needs, trigger economic growth and development  and match them to investment opportunities prioritized in the Blue Economy, Health Care , Education, Agribusiness, ,Mining, Construction, Affordable Housing, Carbon Offsetting, and Creative Arts sectors, among other relevant sectors. The conference’s approach aligns with the government’s Agenda relevant to the region, Kenya’s Vision 2030 Master Plan, the Lake Region Economic Block priorities, and County Integrated Development plans for the six participating Counties.

The University is showcasing its innovations such as : Converting cow burps to cash by Ecodairy. IA, Sustainable and safe waste management by Technobins, and an AI enabled fish Scanner and Sorter. In addition, the University is showcasing its academic programs, initiating linkages and collaborations, partnerships and networking.

Other delegates led by Prof Bernard Kodak includes Prof. Justus Simiyu, Dr. Alloys Osano, Dr. Maurice Ombok, Ms. Mercy Kirumba, Nickson  Magak. The Exhibitors are Nicholasl Abele, Isaac Adweya, Vicor Kariuki and Vincanargis Gakenia.

Ms. Elizabeth Mayia, Ms. Nooloimer Enole and  Ms. Nanaana Enololosikany are showcasing Maasai Cultural artworks for community service and empowerment.

The first Nyanza International Investment Conference of the Lake Region Economic Bloc is being hosted  in Kisumu City, Ciala Resort from 6th to 8th February by the Nyanza Professionals’ Forum (NPF), in collaboration with the six county governments of the former Nyanza Province (Homa Bay, Kisii, Kisumu, Migori, Nyamira, and Siaya), the National Government, relevant National Government Agencies, and local and national private sector corporations, including private sector associations andorganizations (PSOs).

The Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki officially opened the event accompanied by high prolife leaders including Cabinet secretaries, Permanent Secretaries, Governors among others.

The University is one of the leading sponsors of the conference and is actively participating. The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Peninah Aloo-Obudho is leading the management team representing the University comprising of Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Administration, finance and Strategy Prof. James Nempushi, Acting DVC, Academics Students Affairs Prof. Sella Kirui, Acing DVC Research Innovation and Outreach Prof. Francis Mburu.

NYANZA INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT CONFERENCE 2025, COMES TO A CLOSE

The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Peninah Aloo-Obudho joined H.E Wycliffe Oparanya,  Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, H.E Prof. Peter Anyang Nyong’o, Chairman LREB and Governor, Kisumu County, Hon. Eliud Owalo, Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the President, Prof. Ratemo Michieka, Tharaka University Chancellor, Kennedy Onditi, Director Nyanza region, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and industries among other dignitaries in visiting the exhibition booths and for the closing ceremony of  the event.
